The Gyalwang Drukpa - invitation to the Bucerius Summer School

Invited by the Zeit-Stiftung the Gyalwang Drukpa attended a panel discussion of the
“Bucerius Summer School of Global Governance” in Hamburg on September 18th.
The focus was on the subject “extremism”.

International experts compared notes on the subject “Finding Approaches to a
Multifaceted Security Challenge”. The Gyalwang Drukpa talked about religion
and extremism. In doing so he emphasized the importance of humanity, it is more
important than religion. It is crucial that every single one becomes active to
 change the world.

On the eve on the conference the founder of Live To Love had explained in a
 statement:
„Far too often, we wait for leaders and governments to bring us peace. But think
about it: it is individuals who build peace. And when individuals build peace, it is
strong, it is lasting and it is genuine. That does not mean that we sit nicely on a
meditation cushion and enjoy our own inner peace. Peace requires action. Peace
requires a real sense of urgency. Peace requires courage and hard work. Peace
means that each and every one of us has an obligation to build mutual under-
standing and an obligation to reject fear. Peace requires us to not only accept but
celebrate the differences amongst us. Fear needs us to reject differences. Peace
 encourages us to embrace differences.“

In the face of the rise of extremist actions and the search for solutions to handle
them, the Gyalwang Drukpa had specially interrupted the current “4th Drukpa Eco
Cycle Yatra” for two days, to attend this important international exchange.
