Colorful hours with the children in the Ark
Art is healing. It helps to express wishes and experiences that are often difficult to put into words.
Today was finally time for bright colors and joie de vivre: The Live To Love CARE team has invited the children of the Foundation Die Arche to a big painting event.
It all started with a guessing game: What do you actually do with rolls of wallpaper? In each gift bag distributed by the CARE team, a cuddly toy and sweets were hidden, as well as a clue to the campaign: a jar of finger paints. The offer that afternoon: paint yourself and express your heart.
Due to pandemic restrictions such as wearing masks and keeping their distance, many children have now built up a serious basic distance in their contact with others. Self-evident closeness, spontaneity and the connection to the body hardly find room for natural expression due to fearful imprints of being able to infect others.
Creativity can not only contribute to healing in many ways, but incidentally promotes fine motor skills, haptic and sensory abilities, stimulates the imagination and trains the perception of dimensions, proportions and details.
At first, only 10 children arrived hesitantly, but eventually 30 children filled the room with their joy in this beautiful task. They first learned that wallpaper is not only for the walls in the apartments, but also excellent for painting. To begin, one child lay down on the unrolled wallpaper and another sketched the body outline. Afterwards, each child filled the outline with bright colors and symbols for their personal heart's desire. Behind the rainbow, the sun, the trees, colorful sweaters, houses and much more, the children expressed their wishes and desires in a very concentrated way. Meanwhile, they thawed more and more; shared and exchanged their colors and gave each other loving tips, for example, how to "dye" their hair a little more brown. They had such fun painting!
Our team is totally happy about this moving and beautiful time spent with the children.
To all Ark Institutions and their teams, our highest appreciation is repeated.
We wish all children on this earth that they will soon be able to be in contact with each other again without any worries, to give free rein to their creativity, liveliness and play!
