HELP Ukraine

Yesterday we again visited young mothers with their children and pregnant women from Ukraine as part of our Care Initiative. Some of them arrived in Hamburg just a few days ago - their faces give an idea of what they have been through after days of fleeing. For them, only one thing counts: giving the children security and trust that everything will be all right - even if they have lost everything. The mothers try their best. They take advantage of all the moments marked by laughter and lightness - even if they themselves are very worried about their husbands, who are currently under great pressure. For them, Hamburg is a safe haven and a place of peace. Time to gather strength, new friends - the daily new habits distract and build a bit of normality.
Nina, who has once again put us in touch with the Ukrainian women, tells us that many new refugees are currently arriving from southeastern Ukraine - mostly with just a sleeping bag and a sleeping mat in their hands: "That's all you need to survive".
She is pleased about the new contact with a pair of doctors who can now provide medical assistance in their native language. This gives the women comfort and a sense of home.
A family with five children is desperately looking for an apartment; at the moment they are all living together in one small room.
Diapers and warm clothes urgently needed!
Now that it is getting colder, warm clothes for the babies and toddlers are needed, as well as diapers - and baby slings so that the mothers can have the babies close to them and the children can feel supported. Toys are needed for the older children!
