The drought and high temperatures in recent months have motivated us even more to start planting trees as early as August. The planting site: a meadow orchard in Born Park in Osdorf. Nearby is a small lake and we hope that it can continue to provide sufficient water.

Due to the meanwhile very dry soil we immediately filled several buckets of water into the planting holes to give the roots a good basis to connect with the soil. We also painted the trunks with a special lime paint that provides the trees with sufficient minerals and protects the trunk from drying out.

Fortunately Enyola and her little baby were there. We met both of them within the framework of the initiative "Help Ukraine" and support them since their arrival in March on their way to the new life. Enyola is truly a very remarkable woman. She is from Nigeria and immigrated to Ukraine two months before the war began, heavily pregnant, to continue her academic career.

Unfortunately, after the attack on Lviv, she had to leave the country very quickly. Thanks to her strong will to protect her child, she made her way to Germany alone and finally reached Hamburg. She is a very brave woman and did not let her fears paralyze her. Enyola wants to continue her IT studies in Hamburg and plant many more trees with Live To Love, as she told laughing at the end "It's the first time I've done something like this - and it's so much fun."

The next tree planting
By the way, the next time we will be active in Othmarschen: on Saturday, September 10, we will plant field maples and an amber tree! Stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone who diligently dug holes and carried dozens of gallons of water today despite the heat - it was indeed as usual: a happiness-filled and meaningful day!
