#Trillion Trees - Planting trees for climate protection

Whether in the Himalayas, in Monaco or in Hamburg: Every newly planted tree helps climate protection. On the initiative of the Live To Love Germany Foundation, the Gyalwang Drukpa visited Europe from March 8 to 12, 2018 first he was the guest of honor at the launch of the #Trillion Trees project of the "Plant for the Planet" organization - then he traveled on to Hamburg to plant the first trees of the million promised in Monaco together with the Live To Love team.

Start of a historic climate protection project in Monaco: Felix Finkbeiner from the organization "Plant for the Planet" and Prince Albert II planted the first tree of the #Trillion Trees campaign in Monaco on March 9, 2018.

For this special occasion, the Gyalwang Drukpa was invited as guest of honor accompanied by Gianna Wabner, President of Live To Love Germany. In front of renowned politicians and scientists he gave a speech in which he pledged to plant at least one million trees worldwide under the umbrella of Live To Love.

Kick-off of the tree planting campaigns in Hamburg-Steilshoop

Only one day later he started to put his promise directly into action. From Monaco, the Gyalwang Drukpa traveled to Hamburg. In the district of Steilshoop, together with the team from Live To Love-Germany and in cooperation with NABU, he planted three fluttering elms along the Osterbek River. If one does something directly for environmental and climate protection instead of just talking, he sees a realistic chance for sustainable climate change. "The awareness of how important it is now to plant trees for the next generation has grown enormously. Parents are explaining it to children and children are also explaining it to parents - all over the world," said the Gyalwang Drukpa. At the Altonaer balcony with far view of the Elbe the Gyalwang Drukpa planted together with the Kung Fu - nuns five further elms into the earth. At the same time another action took place at the Ohmoorgraben in the Hamburg district Niendorf - here ten trees were dug in. All 18 trees were donated by Fielmann AG.
