The Gyalwang Drukpa
FOUNDER OF LIVE TO LOVE
Since its founding in 2007, Live To Love has developed into an international aid network. Its founder, the Gyalwang Drukpa, is the head of the now 1000-year-old Buddhist Drukpa tradition of the Himalayas. In 2010, the Gyalwang Drukpa was honored for its commitment with the "Millennium Development Goals Award" by the United Nations in New York. Since then, he has received numerous other honors for his powerful activity, including the "Green Hero Award" (2010), the "Lifetime Achievement Award" (2012), the title of "Guardian of the Himalayas" (2013), awarded by the "Waterkeeper Alliance", the "South-South Award" (2013) or the Honorary Fellowship Award of Wolfson College, Oxford University (2018).
Live To Love is a humanitarian and explicitly secular movement open to all people.
Life is precious: Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche came to northern Germany in May 2019 as a committed environmental and animal rights activist. The visit under the umbrella of Live To Love has left a lasting impression on many. Stops included the Wilhelm-Gymnasium, the Sternenbrücke children's hospice and the Warder Ark.
Whether in the Himalayas, in Monaco or in Hamburg: every newly planted tree helps climate protection. On the initiative of the Live To Love Germany Foundation, the Gyalwang Drukpa visited Europe from March 8 to 12, 2018 - first he was guest of honor at the launch of the #Trillion Trees - project of the organization "Plant for the Planet"- then he traveled on to Hamburg to plant the first trees of the million promised in Monaco into the ground together with the Live To Love team.
Within the framework of his European tour, the Buddhist dignitary Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche also visited the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Stations of his stay were the animal hospital in Norderstedt, the Wilhelm Gymnasium and the children's hospice Sternenbrücke.
The Gyalwang Drukpa was a guest at the 52nd Munich Security Conference from February 12-14, 2016, attended by more than 60 foreign and defense ministers. The visit was jointly organized by Live To Love International, Drukpa Publications and Live To Love Germany.
A visit in challenging times: Against the backdrop of the refugee situation, the attacks in Paris and climate change, the Gyalwang Dukpa visited the Hanseatic city of Hamburg on November 16 and 17, 2015. This time, the focus was on meetings with leading personalities in order to enter into dialogue.
Live To Love Germany gave a public lecture on "The Philosophy of Agility" at the Park Hyatt Hamburg on Saturday, January 10, 2015.
On the occasion of the establishment of the Live To Love Germany Foundation. on September 9, 2014, the Gyalwang Drukpa visited Hamburg to celebrate the historic moment. In doing so, he contributed to a deeper understanding of Live To Love's message in his lectures. In numerous meetings he touched the hearts of many people with his lively and humorous freshness.
Interviews, talks, visits and performances: The Gyalwang Drukpa deeply touched and inspired many people in November 2012. On all occasions he spoke out encouraging people to take responsibility for their own lives. In doing so, he repeatedly pointed out the interconnectedness with all beings and life situations and opened up further meaning-filling perspectives.
